Business insurance is at the core of protecting your finances and company as an entrepreneur, start-up, or small business owner, including:
We know that in most cases, our members aren’t here because they’re excited about buying insurance – but you need to know your insurance is here for you if things go sideways!
We have built insurance products that are tailored specifically to the 500+ different types of businesses we can ensure. Many of them can be purchased 100% online with instant coverage and 24/7 dashboard access to proof of insurance, the ability to add additional insureds, and more. And as much as possible, we try to take the “insurance speak” out of the conversation, so that our members know what’s covered in their policies and what’s not.
We take a “people-first” approach to customer service, with licensed agents answering the phones Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. MT (9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern – except for holidays). This is a big deal to our members. In fact, if you go out and check reviews, you’ll find that one of the biggest complaints people make about our competitors is that they disappear after the sale—that it’s difficult to reach a “real person” when they have a question or need to file a claim.
Filing a claim? We’ve made that easy too. Not only through our customer service team, all of whom are licensed, non-commissioned insurance agents, but also with step-by-step explainers on our websites. At the end of the day, we want our members to feel confident, empowered, and in the know, so you can have peace of mind that your business investments are well-protected against the risks common to your particular types of industries and jobs.

This is a core policy that virtually all of our members need. It provides coverage in cases of property damage or bodily injury to third parties (like customers or vendors) and is sometimes called “slip and fall” coverage. It can protect you from lawsuits, lost wages, medical bills, and the cost of repairs or replacement when, for example:
Your customer experiences an injury related to an incident occurring on your premises or in the course of receiving a service.
You accidentally damage the property of a space, booth, station, or other premises you rent for the purpose of your business.
You travel to a client’s premises and accidentally cause damage – like if your professional photography lighting equipment falls and breaks an expensive lamp or piece of furniture during a photo shoot.
These are just a few scenarios a commercial general liability policy covers. With some of our tailored policies, other coverages are often bundled in, giving you even more protection. In other cases, you can “choose your own adventure” and select the coverages you feel will best protect your small business.
Often included in our general liability policies, medical payments is a no-fault payment limit included for first aid and medical expenses when an injury occurs accidentally on your premises or due to business operations.
Sometimes included in our general liability policies, products and completed operations is designed to cover incidents occurring away from your place of business after operations or services are complete. For example, your customer experienced adverse effects following a service, such as having an allergic reaction to a product used during their appointment.
Today, nearly every entrepreneur and small business relies on tech of some kind. And all tech can be susceptible to accidental and malicious data loss and hacking. Cyber liability insurance is an add-on policy that can protect you in instances like these, including helping to investigate, help with lawsuits, and make financial restitution to you and your customers.
This coverage is sometimes included in our members’ commercial general liability policies. It’s specifically designed to protect you in the case of fire damage to premises rented to you or temporarily occupied by you, such as warehouse space, an office, or a workstation.
“Inland marine” is not an intuitively understood term – for that reason, we often refer to it in more practical ways relative to you. You’ll find that some of our programs call it “gear and equipment coverage”, “tools and supplies coverage”, or even “business property not at a permanent location”.
But no matter the name of the coverage, it refers to coverage for items used for a business that are in transit over land. In other words, moveable supplies, inventory, and business tools and equipment. Here are some examples of the types of businesses that should have inland marine policies in place:
Sometimes called “errors and omissions” or “E&O” insurance, professional liability can protect you from damages and claims arising from negligence, misrepresentations, mistakes, or malpractice due to your professional services.
Not all businesses provide goods and services; some offer advice, hold workshops, and educate. Whether this is your primary type of business or something you do in addition to selling goods or services, professional liability is a must. It is included in the base policies of a few of our online products, but is coverage that can be purchased separately in others.
This is another type of coverage that comes standard in some of our members’ online products but needs to be purchased separately by others. It can protect you from claims for financial and emotional injury due to slander or libel, false advertising, or inadvertently violating copyright laws or plagiarizing the content of someone else’s work in your advertising or marketing.
Product liability is occasionally included in base Annual plans, but more often is a type of coverage that should be considered separately. It can help cover claims of injuries or damages caused by the products made, distributed, or sold by you individually or your business.
It’s one of the few products we offer to members that is individually quoted and can’t be purchased online. Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and in-person and online sellers can all benefit from purchasing a product liability policy.
We are currently pioneering coverage for workers compensation with some types of businesses. This type of coverage is limited to states that allow independent coverage, as some states require employers to participate in a government-run program. Where it can be purchased, it offers coverage for lost wages, medical expenses, lawsuits, damages, and other claims for employees who get hurt, injured, or even killed while on the job.
All policies have conditions, limitations and exclusions, please read the policy for exact verbiage. Claim scenario circumstances vary in nature and similar claims do not guarantee coverage.
